The 19th Annual Toyota Owners Restoration Club event was held this year at Long Beach- outside the Queen Mary lawn this past weekend (May 3rd, 2014). Many thanks to the event organizers, and Volunteers for helping host such a great event as always; the event sold out quite fast this year as opposed to the prior years. Many great vendors were also able to support; a couple new faces and many familiar faces were of attendance.
There were participants from all over map; from British Colombia to even Hawaii.
There were Toyota’s from all sorts of generations, from the TE27’s to the KE’s and even Hachi Roku’s to MKIV’s, and yes even a Marty McFly special. Lexus and Toyota both had some interesting display vehicles, including the new NX200T; which hopefully Lexus uses that motor in their compact sedans *cough cough* are you listening Lexus? The NX200t packs a few features that are notable; Turbo engine configuration, a touchpad, and also wireless charging for mobile devices.
Notable sightings include, Noel Barnum’s highly modified FRS sitting on Air-rex’s air ride suspension and fresh wide body Varis body kit; which took 1st place FRS home; Garm’s Prius C from Micro Imaging with the G’s racing body kit and center exit exhaust, not to mention a big brake kit with multi-piece rotors on a Prius; There was also an 80’s Corolla with an LSx; as well a few pristine MKIV Supras in the crowd. Can’t forget the Toysport display selection either, the 2000GT; and cherry mint vintage Celica’s
Toyota did have a few activities going throughout the whole day and were passing out swag items for its participants; hopefully next year the weather is a bit cooler as this year it was quite warm.
Thank you to the great volunteer’s for helping make this event possible for the past 19+ years and many more to come.
