As one era ends another begins; Car Culture, and the automotive lifestyle in the Golden State of California cannot be muffled; Just as the signature Cars & Coffee took an exit; Many little ones have formed. You can keep track of the events on www.modelsinthetrunk.com page; or on https://www.facebook.com/ModelsintheTrunk .
First off, thank you to Pelican Parts for hosting this event, the organizers at the event suggested this would be the first of many to happen, monthly. Finally a meet in my back yard and not a super early call time. This meet was the first organized meet in a while in Palos Verdes. Initially it was planned at the Vons across the street; but an over whelming turnout on Facebook suggested it’d need relocation; It was moved to the mall’s 3rd floor parking lot.
Decent turnout I’d say with about 150+ cars and over 250+ people over the course of the morning. Some notable cars included an infamous 959; a G50 owned by Mark Arsenal; a few 993 Turbo’s and Narrow bodies and a few vintage Pcars. What’s interesting is one would always know a vintage Pcar in the background by the leaky RMS with the scent of oil in the air. GM also had a presence showing off a test mule Z06; and man did that car have some track time on it; who ever had been hooning on it used up all its contact patch of the tire.
It was nice to see a full array of cars at the meet; from BMW’s, to Porsche’s, to vintage Z cars, and a few scattered exotics.
Although one era of early Saturday morning call-time’s has ended; car culture in Southern California has not died out, here’s to many more to come.
